Microsoft OEM Numbers
I am no fan of Microsoft for a lot of different reasons which I won't gothrough here. However, one of the things that I think is so insaneis the silly OEM registration sheets that they ship with CDs. Anyonewho is thorough enough to copy a CD would certainly copy the OEM registrationnumber. However, the average guy who just files the CD away after asuccessful installation may very well separate the actual CD from the littlesheet with the OEM regsitration number. Fortunately just aboutany Microsoft OEM registration number will do. So this web siteis to help out people who have legitimately bought/received a Microsoft CD(OEM variety), but have lost their sheet with the registration number. If you purchased your MS CD software separately (it did not come withyour computer), you need to follow the link to MS CD Keys. That link may also be useful if you have current OEM software that uses thelatest 25 character keys.
After that, you can install Windows 2000 very easily. Insert the CD containing Windows 2000 Profesional ISO to your CD drive. Restart your computer and wait for boot. While booting it will ask you to press any key to boot from your CD drive. Press any key on your keyboard. Now The setup wizard will start. Just follow the instruction their on. Oct 19, 2003 Bypassing the Windows 2000 Serial Check First you want to copy your Windows 2000 setup files from your CD to your hard drive. You have to copy at least the I386 directory (I recommend copying all the files, so you can burn a complete CD later).
Can you help me?
I am now preparing a suit against Microsoft for misrepresenting their copyrightsunder the DMCA and so on. I also believe that their CD keys are primarily intended to defraud consumers from their legal rights to use the software (in thehope that they will lose the CD keys and have to buy another license, this timedirectly from Microsoft). So, I would like to include a class action suit ofconsumers who:- purchased a computer with OEM licenses,
- lost their key,
- had to reinstall their software, but were blocked by Microsoft key validationsoftware, and
- either
- purchased an additional license at a store (hence were defrauded byMicrosoft) or
- used information on my site to permit them to reinstall their legallypurchased software
